Founder

Hakai Lab was founded by Rolando Pineda, an AI engineer with a background in computer science from the University of Pennsylvania.

Rolando’s experience with AI began before the generative AI boom, starting with computer vision for security systems and later expanding into natural language processing for consumer sentiment, market intelligence, and text generation.

Since then, his work has spanned predictive modeling, computer vision classification, behavioral fraud detection in gaming, 3D reconstruction, reinforcement learning, and agentic AI systems. His projects have included real estate forecasting, warehouse digital twins, adversarial cybersecurity simulation, aerospace requirements verification, and LLM-based systems for legal and healthcare workflows.

Beyond model development, Rolando has experience deploying the infrastructure needed to run AI systems inside organizations. He has built and deployed AI systems for both small businesses and large enterprises, with work across aerospace, private equity, law, healthcare, and enterprise operations, including projects connected to the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) and the U.S. Air Force.

Rolando's focus has been building and deploying reliable, scalable AI systems that are useful inside the organizations they serve.
